Women's Swimming beats Gettysburg in CC clash

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Paced by two team records from freshman Olivia Tierney, the nationally-ranked Ursinus College women's swimming team remained undefeated in the Centennial Conference, with a 155.5 to 106.5 win over Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon.

Tierney set records in the 100 and 200 breast with times of 1:07.34 and 2:26.30 respectively, as she won both events.

The Bears actually trailed after the first relay, the 200 yard medley, but did take second and third to scoop up six points.

In the 1000 free, senior Chelsea Kozior won the event with a time of 11:01.47.

In the 200 free, Ursinus got 7.5 points as freshman Sydney Gunderson was second with a time of 1:58.78, followed by senior Amanda Lucock tied for third at 2:03.46 and sophomore Marisa Ferrari in fifth at 2:05.54.

Junior Corinne Capodanno was first in the 100 back at 1:00.41.

After Tierney won the 100 breast, sophomore Katie Pielmeier was first in the 200 fly at 2:13.96 with freshman Katherine Porter second at 2:16.08.

Capodanno took home her second top finish of the day in the 50 free at 25.28, with sophomore Alli Hemp going second at 25.43.

Gunderson won the 100 free at 53.97 with Kozior in third at 55.69.

Capodanno completed the hat trick with three first-place finishes as she won the 500 free at 5:19.74, followed by Kozior in second at 5:26.64 and Lucock in third at 5:29.96.

Ursinus went 1-2-3 in the 100 fly as Porter on the event with a time of 1:00.10, freshman Maggie Leitz was second at 1:00.72 and Hemp was third at 1:01.20.

In the 200 IM, Tierney won her third event of the day with a time of 2:14.35.

In the final event of the day, the team of Capodanno, Gunderson, Kozior and Hemp were first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:43.16.

Ursinus takes a break for Thanksgiving, then heads to the Golden Ram Classic on December 5.
