Women's Swimming wins opener, 111-90, over Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. – In its first meet of the year, the Ursinus College women's swimming team defeated Dickinson by a 111-90 score.

The meet was highlighted by a team record by freshman Olivia Tierney in the 200 breast at 2:27.45.

The Bears won the open event, the 400 yard medley relay at the team of junior Corinne Capodanno, Tierney, freshman Katherine Porter and sophomore Alli Hemp won the event at 4:07.04.

Capodanno won the 200 free at 2:00.65, with senior Amanda Lucock in third place at 2:04.78.

Freshman Sydney Gunderson was tops in the 50 free at 25.19, with Hemp third at 25.72.

In the 200 IM, Tierney won the event at 2:15.66, with sophomore Katie Pielmeier second at 2:16.72.

In the 200 fly, freshman Maggie Leitz was second at 2:18.13, with freshman Katherine Porter third at 2:21.12.

Gunderson won the 100 free at 54.98, with senior Chelsea Kozior second in the 500 free at 5:29.58.

Pielmeier was second in the 200 breast at 2:36.73.

The Bears also won the final relay, the 400 free, with a time of 3:44.72. The team of senior Amanda Lucock, Kozior, Hemp and Gunderson comprised the winning relay.

Ursinus hosts Albright on Wednesday.
