COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus women's swimming team defeated F&M in their final home meet on Saturday afternoon by a score of 136-69 to improve to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
This marked the first win for the Ursinus women over F&M in conference action since the Bears joined the conference in 1993.
Ursinus opened up the meet by winning the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.65. The team of junior Malena Lair Ferrari (Bethesda, Md./The German School), senior Sarah Kolosky (Fishkill, N.Y./OLOL), sophomore Rebecca Schroll (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and freshman Micaela Lyons (Plainfield, N.J./Wardlaw-Hartidge School) combined to get the win.
In the 200 free, freshman Corinne Capodanno (Claymont, Del./Padua Academy) won the event at 1:58.54, followed by sophomore Chelsea Kozior (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) was third at 1:59.46.
In the 50 free, Lyons won the event at 25.55, with sophomore Anne Ludwig (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) in third at 25.81.
Lair Ferrari won the 200 IM at 2:14.64, with freshman Kyleigh Hamilton (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) in second at 2:19.45.
Hamilton would win the 100 fly at 1:02.45, with Capodanno winning the 100 free at 55.01.
In the 100 back, Ludwig won the event at 1:04.06.
Lair Ferrari won her second event of the day in the 500 free at 5:13.36, followed by Kolosky winning the 100 breast at 1:11.99. Junior Eva Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was second at 1:13.20.
In the final 200 free relay, the team of sophomore Amanda Lucock (Barrington, R.I./Barrington), Lyons, Capodanno and Kozior won the event at 1:42.25.
Ursinus is at Washington next Saturday.
