Westminster, MD- Ursinus College women's soccer (3-11-2) went on the road for their final game of the season to face off against the nationally ranked McDaniel Green Terror (15-1).
Ursinus competed well early in the match against a high-powered McDaniel offense.
Eventually, the Green Terror broke through on the scoreboard in the 19th minute when Hannah Schepers found the back of the net on an assist from Sara McDonald. In the 30th minute, Schepers was at it again, scoring her second goal of the match to extend the McDaniel lead to 2-0.
At the break, Ursinus trailed McDaniel in shots 9-2 and shots on goal 5-0. Although the Bears offense couldn't muster much in the stanza, goalkeeper Mandy Carideo kept them in the game with 3 saves at the half.
Unfortunately for the Bears, a second half comeback wasn't in the cards. The Green Terror scored in the 55th minute on a goal from Jessie Titus and again in the 73rd minute thanks to a boot from Elena Hincapie. Both goals were assisted by Maddie Schwartz.
With the McDaniel lead sitting at 4-0, Alice Poindexter was able to muster the Bears first shot on goal for the day in the 85th minute. The attempt was saved by McDaniel keeper Liv McDermott.
In the end, the Bears came up short, but they look towards next season with a sense of optimism for their young roster.
