WILKES BARRE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team (3-4-2) tied on the road to King's College (5-4-1) on Wednesday. After 110 minutes, the game ended scoreless, 0-0. It marks the second scoreless draw for the Bears this season.
The Bears put on the pressure right away but a shot to the bottom right by Brittany Banks was turned away by the Monarch goalkeeper. Raya Mount added a shot of her own aimed at the bottom left in the ninth minute but was denied as well.
Ursinus controlled play early, but the Monarchs put a shot on goal in the 11th minute that was swiftly turned away by junior goalkeeper Sabrina Doherty.
Looking for the game-winner, the Bears applied heavy pressure in the waning minutes of the second half. Banks and Kelly Gardus fired back-to-back shots in the 71st minute, but couldn't quite find the back of the net. Five minutes later a shot from Morgan Raley was saved as well.
For the third time this season the Bears would head to overtime. King's outshot Ursinus 2-1 in the extra time, but neither team was able to score as the game ended in a scoreless draw.
The Bears outshot King's 11-6, including 6-2 in shots on goal. Doherty recorded her fifth shutout of the season to bring her career total to 13.
