Women's Soccer Falls in Centennial Conference Opener With McDaniel Second-Half Goal

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to McDaniel on homecoming Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, the Bears gave up a late goal in the second to go down their Centennial Conference opener.

A defensive battle throughout, the Bears trailed four shots to two in the first half with just two of those being on target. A free-kick by the Green Terror sailed just high of the crossbar in the 23rd minute and a defensive save in the box for the Bears kept the game scoreless.

The Green Terror broke through in the second half with shit to the top-left corner from outside the box as the Bears went down, 1-0. Ursinus looked to tie the score late, but a shot from Brittany Banks went high in the 86th minute.

The Bears defense continued to shine on Saturday afternoon. The backline allowed just four shots to get through on goal and have yet to allow multiple goals this season. Junior goalkeeper, Sabrina Doherty tallied two saves. Angela Gervasi and Julia Ewing led the Bears offensive attack as the duo each had a shot on goal.
