Women's Soccer Trio Named All-CC

LANCASTER, Pa. – A trio of Ursinus College women's soccer players received honorable mention on the All-Centennial Conference team released Thursday by the league office.

Mackenzie Groff, Sabrina Doherty, and Kayla O'Malley were all recognized for their efforts in leading the Bears to their first winning season since 2015.

A senior forward, Groff ends her career with her first all-conference honor after posting team highs of six goals and 13 points. The co-captain started all 17 games and scored twice in two of them, including the season opener at Keystone and again against Penn State Brandywine. Three of Groff's goals were game-winners, and she assisted on freshman Kelly Gardus' go-ahead strike in a 1-0 victory over Washington College on October 24.

Groff finished her career ranked seventh in program history in goals (16) and ninth in points (39).

Doherty received All-CC honorable mention for the second year in a row. Cementing her status as one of the league's top goaltenders, Doherty tops the CC with 86 saves while placing third in save percentage (.835) and seventh in goals-against average (1.04). She notched six solo shutouts to run her career total to eight. Doherty had a pair of games with double-digit saves and even posted an assist in the season finale against Bryn Mawr.

O'Malley caps her first collegiate season by becoming only the third freshman in school history – and the first since Jess Porcelan in 2008 – to earn all-conference laurels. The rookie anchored a defense that tallied seven clean sheets and allowed only 18 goals in 17 games. O'Malley started every contest and notched her first career point on an assist in a 1-0 victory over Alvernia on September 26.

Additionally, sophomore midfielder Angela Gervasi was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Gervasi started 16 games and was second on the team with four goals, including one against No. 4 Johns Hopkins and two more in the finale against Bryn Mawr.
