Women's Soccer Places Pair on All-CC Team

2017 All-CC Women's Soccer

LANCASTER, Pa. – A pair of players on the Ursinus College women's soccer team were named to the All-Centennial Conference roster.

Senior co-captain Katie Bell earned a second team nod from the league's coaches, while freshman Sabrina Doherty received honorable mention.

Bell is a first-time all-conference choice thanks to her strong play in the midfield, tenacious defensive play, and leadership that launched her into the spotlight on a young Bears. Bell led the Bears in points (7) and goals (3), providing the game-winner in the team's 1-0 double-overtime victory over Washington College on October 25.

Bell started 62 of 66 games during her career, finishing with eight goals and two assists.

Doherty earned an honorable mention bid for her impressive season in net. While she only played in seven games (starting six) at goalie, Doherty proved to be a brick wall between the pipes, notching a pair of shutouts. Her signature performance came in a 1-0 win over Franklin & Marshall on October 7. Doherty made five saves in the game, stopping a penalty shot and a breakaway to keep the Bears ahead.

Doherty, who also scored a goal in the season opener against Misericordia and proved to be a lock-down defender over the final five games of the year, finished with a goals-against clip of 1.06 and an .833 save percentage, good for second in the CC.

Doherty is the first Ursinus freshman to garner an all-conference selection since Sarah Cogswell in 2010.

Additionally, junior midfielder Jenna Endy was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Endy saw action in 11 contests this season and made her first career start in a CC match at Dickinson.

It's the fourth season in a row that the Ursinus women's soccer program has had two or more all-conference selections, and 10th in the last 11 years.
