Women's Soccer races past Alvernia, 5-0

READING, Pa. – Junior midfielder Erin Farrell (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored two goals in the first 35 minutes of the contest as the Ursinus women's soccer team (6-1) rolled to a 5-0 win over Alvernia (2-7) on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference play.

Farrell scored at 7:44 and 35 minutes even to lead the Bears to their fourth straight win.

Senior defender Paige Abronski (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) had two assists as the Bears built a 4-0 halftime edge. Abronski assisted on goals by sophomore midfielder Kendall Couch (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) at 36:43, and junior midfielder Jeanne Jasinski (Hilltown, Pa./Pennridge) at 38:17.

Freshman midfielder Colleen Becker (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Archbishop McCarthy) scored Ursinus' last goal of the game with just five minutes remaining.

With a 19-8 shot advantage, Ursinus goalkeepers junior Courtney Sullivan (Maple Glen, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) and sophomore Marisa Kalkstein (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) split time with each playing a half. Sullivan made four saves in the first half, while Kalkstein made one in the final 45 minutes.

Ursinus, ranked fifth in the region by the NSCAA, will host Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon in a critical Centennial Conference match.
