COLLEGEVILLE, Pa – In the pouring rain the Ursinus women's soccer team played their final  home match for the season defeating Washington College 1-0, Wednesday night at Patterson field.

Ursinus honored seniors Ama Achiaw, Valerie Bedrock, Alexis Haug, Jessica Lenzo and Grace Potash playing in the final home game of their collegiate career.

In a sloppy game the Bears placed nineteen shots with eight being on goal while holding the Shorewomen to seven shots for the night.

Opening the match both sides were hampered by the wet conditions but in the 23rd minute  Valerie Bedrock crossed the ball into the middle deflecting off the defender  right to Jeannie Jasinski for her sixth goal of the season, Ursinus taking a 1-0 lead into the half.

The Bears held on to their slim lead thanks to clutch defensive work in front of the net, deflecting shots out of goal that sophomore goal keeper Courtney Sullivan couldn't handle.

With two Centennial Conference games remaining, the Bears control their own destiny, needing only two more in conference win to capture the fifth seed in the Centennial Tournament.

The Bears travel to Dickinson Saturday afternoon.
