COLLEGEVILLE, Pa – With a goal in the final seconds of the first half, the Ursinus women's soccer team scored an narrow victory over Alvernia 1-0, Wednesday night at Patterson Field.

The Bears improve their record to 2-4-1 on the season.

Ursinus dominated the first half controlling the ball and placing 6 shots on goal but Alvernia's keeper stonewalled the Bears.  Late in the first half with the clock closing in on zero, Ama Achiaw broke past the defense following a long cross by Valerie Bedrock and fired the ball past the keeper to the low left post with one second remaining, giving the Bears the lead 1-0, going into the half.

Alvernia came out of the half motivated, pressing the Bears defense with six shots, but Ursinus was able to come out of the game unscathed enduring the pressure from the Crusaders.
