Women's Soccer falls late to York, 2-1

YORK, PA - In a tightly contested game against York College, the Ursinus women's soccer team held the reigning CAC champs to a 1-1 tie until the 88th minute, when York scored a heartbreaking goal beating the Bears 2-1 Saturday afternoon.

With the loss Ursinus falls to 1-2 for the season.

The Bears mounted 15 shots, with 6 being on goal. The Spartans were limited to 7 shots, with 6 on goal.

In the first half the scoreless contest was broken in the 44th minute with own goal by Ursinus off  the defender's head, helping York take a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

 Ursinus came out in the second half and notched a goal from sophomore Jacqueline Smiler, her first of the season, assisted from Jeannie Jasinski.

Defensively for the Bears, the Spartans were held to only 3 shots in the second half but in the 88th minute York's Jordan Snook broke the tie reaching the back of the net.

Ursinus returns to the field at home against Rowan Wednesday at 7:30.
