COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - After pressing the box for most of the game, the Ursinus women's soccer team netted two goals in the final 11 minutes to defeat Penn State Abington 2-0 to kick off the 2014 season.

The Bears attack recorded 36 shots with 17 them on goal. Jeannie Jasinski netted one goal from twelve shots seven of them on goal. The other goal was scored by senior forward Alexis Haug.

The Bears held the Nittany Lions to two total shots both saved by sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Sullivan.

During the first half the Bears controlled the midfield, pressuring Penn State goalkeeper Margaret Sheridan continually firing shots on goal.

The Bears didn't break through until the second half in the 79th minute, when sophomore forward Erin Farrell drove a hard shot off the hands of the goalkeeper toward the left post, but Haug put the shot into the back of the net off the rebound.

Minutes later Jasinski finally reaped the rewards of her hard work with a long cross from the left corner by Haug and headed the ball into the goal.

The Bears return to the field at Arcadia September 3rd.
