Women's Soccer falls to Moravian, 3-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus battled with Moravian on Wednesday night in women's soccer play before the Greyhounds got a goal in the 64th minute to take a 3-1 win from the Bears.

Ursinus (2-1) and Moravian (1-2) both took 16 shots, but, the Greyhounds got goals in the 16th and 29th minutes in the first half to take the lead. Kaylan Bruzzone scored her first goal of the season on an assist by Kirsten Schall, as Schall fed the ball in on a corner that was headed into the goal by Bruzzone.

At 29:33, Caroline Clark scored on a rebound off of a Bears' team save for the 2-0 lead.

Ursinus got on the board as junior forward Ama Achiaw (Damascus, Md./Westover) scored on an assist by junior forward Valerie Bedrock (Waldwick, N.J./Ramsey) at 38:43. Bedrock fed the ball in to Achiaw at about the 20-yard line and she finished the drive.

In the second half, Moravian got a goal from Schall at 63:37 on an assist from Catherine Lamplugh for the 3-1 edge.

In goal, senior Kara DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) made ten saves on the night, while Moravian got five saves from Genevieve Chaleff in 74 minutes of play. Jacqueline Zalis had 16 minutes of play with no saves.

 

Ursinus heads to Salisbury on Friday afternoon for a two-day, two-match weekend, starting with a matchup against the hosts.
