COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College junior midfielder Jess
Porcelan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored a penalty
kick with just 3:53 left in the second overtime as Ursinus (10-5,
6-3 Centennial) scored a 2-1 win over Muhlenberg (7-7-2, 6-3
Centennial) in women's soccer play on Tuesday.
The Bears now have 18 points with just one game remaining in the
season, as they are fighting for a playoff spot. The Bears travel
to Johns Hopkins on Friday night. The top five teams qualify for
the Conference tournament, slated to begin next Wednesday
afternoon.
Ursinus, who outshot Muhlenberg 24-14 in the win, took an early 1-0
lead 7:19 in as freshman forward Sarah Cogswell (Shepherstown,
W.Va./Jefferson) scored on a drive from the left side past
Muhlenberg junior goalkeeper Michele Toher.
Muhlenberg tied the score at 1-all 1:41 into the second half as
freshman midfielder CJ Graetzer scored her sixth goal of the season
on an assist from freshman midfielder Stephanie Tramutola.
Tramutola's pass from the left side laid perfectly at
Graetzer's feet in front of the goal.
Toher finished with 11 saves, while Ursinus freshman goalkeeper
Kara DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) made four
saves in the win.
Ursinus is currently on a five match winning streak heading into
the final match of the season.
