Women's Soccer beats Washington College, 3-1

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Ursinus College sophomore forward Cecilia Mansson (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) scored two goals pacing Ursinus (6-5, 3-3 Centennial) to a 3-2 win over Washington College (4-6-1, 0-5 Centennial) on Wednesday afternoon in women's soccer action at Roy Kirby Jr., Stadium.

Mansson scored at 9:08 and 17:49, as the Bears snapped a two-game losing streak and stayed alive in the race for the Centennial Conference playoffs.

Mansson first goal came at 9:08 on a pass from junior midfielder Jess Porcelan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) to give the Bears the early lead, which increased to 2-0 at 14:26 when freshman forward Sarah Cogswell (Shepherstown, W.Va./Jefferson) scored on a pass from junior defender Alex Doll (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon).

Washington College responded 2:20 later as Gabby Devaud scored her third goal of the season unassisted.

Mansson's final goal, coming 1:03 after Washington had cut to within one, gave Ursinus a 3-1 lead.

The second half saw Washington score with 49 seconds left in regulation as Katelyn Malchester scored on an assist from Devaud.

Ursinus held an 18-14 lead in shots, with freshman goalkeeper Kara DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) making six saves.
