Ursinus scores late to beat Lebanon Valley, 2-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus women's soccer freshman forward Sarah Cogswell (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) picked the perfect time for her first collegiate goal.

Her shot from the right side of the box, just got over Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen junior goalkeeper Sami Young with 48 seconds left in the match, giving Ursinus a 2-1 win over LVC in the season opener for the Bears.

Lebanon Valley (0-1-1) had several chances to tie the score in the second half, and did so on a goal from sophomore midfielder Stevi Laird at 81:56 as her shot from 20 yards out took a similar path to Cogswell and got past Ursinus freshman goalkeeper Kara DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township).

Ursinus had an early lead in this one, scoring just under three minutes in as junior midfielder Jess Porcelan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) for an early 1-0 lead.

Both Young and DiJoseph had seven saves as LVC had a 17-15 advantage in shots.

Ursinus hosts Baptist Bible tomorrow at 1.
