LANCASTER, Pa. - The Ursinus College women's soccer team got its
Centennial Conference schedule off to a good start on Saturday as
Bears (3-2, 1-0 Centennial) held Franklin & Marshall (2-5, 0-1)
to just one shot in a 3-0 blanking of the Diplomats.
Ursinus got the game-winning goal just 12 minutes in as freshman
forward Cecilia Mansson (Monroe, Conn./Masuk)
scored when she dribbled between two defenders and got it back
Diplomat goalkeeper Katie Golding for a 1-0 lead.
Freshman forward Leah Shaw (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown
Regional) scored the Bears' second goal of the game at
36:51 when she scored on a pass by freshman midfielder
Natalie Massari (West Deptford, N.J./West
Deptford) for the 2-0 advantage.
Senior midfielder Megan Ascanio (Reading,
Pa./Exeter) scored in the 74th minute as her
shot took a wild bounce for the 3-0 final score.
Freshman goalkeeper Justine Harvey (Accident, Md./Northern
Garrett Co.) needed to make just one save for the Bears,
who travel to Susquehanna on Wednesday night.
