Bears blank F&M, 3-0

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Ursinus College women's soccer team got its Centennial Conference schedule off to a good start on Saturday as Bears (3-2, 1-0 Centennial) held Franklin & Marshall (2-5, 0-1) to just one shot in a 3-0 blanking of the Diplomats.

Ursinus got the game-winning goal just 12 minutes in as freshman forward Cecilia Mansson (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) scored when she dribbled between two defenders and got it back Diplomat goalkeeper Katie Golding for a 1-0 lead.

Freshman forward Leah Shaw (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) scored the Bears' second goal of the game at 36:51 when she scored on a pass by freshman midfielder Natalie Massari (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) for the 2-0 advantage.

Senior midfielder Megan Ascanio (Reading, Pa./Exeter) scored in the 74th minute as her shot took a wild bounce for the 3-0 final score.

Freshman goalkeeper Justine Harvey (Accident, Md./Northern Garrett Co.) needed to make just one save for the Bears, who travel to Susquehanna on Wednesday night.
