SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Trailing by two goals in the second half,
Ursinus rallied for two goals in the final 25 minutes of the half,
then scored the game-winner with 3:56 left in the second overtime
as the Bears (4-2) defeated Susquehanna (2-4-2) 3-2 Wednesday night
in women's soccer play.
Sophomore midfielder Brittany Williams (Medford,
N.J./Shawnee) scored the game-winning goal at 106:04 on a
header off of a corner kick from senior midfielder Megan
Ascanio (Reading, Pa./Exeter).
Susquehanna took a 1-0 lead at 23:11 when Julie Briskey scored on a
loose ball, then the Crusaders took a 2-0 lead at 38:30 when
Samantha Farina scored on a direct kick.
The Bears cut the deficit to 2-1 at 65:03 when sophomore defender
Monica Oilveto (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser)
scored on a pass from freshman forward Cecilia Mansson
(Monroe, Conn./Masuk). Mansson would later score the
game-tying goal at 79:06 off of a corner kick.
The Bears, who had a 24-6 advantage in shots, got one save from
freshman goalkeeper Justine Harvey (Accident, Md./Northern
Garrett Co.).
This marks the sixth straight game where the winning team has
scored three goals.
Ursinus will travel to Dickinson on Saturday.
