COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus scored four times in the first half
as the Bears (8-4-1, 4-2-1 Centennial) defeated McDaniel (3-10-1,
2-4 Centennial) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at a rainy Wilkes
Field.
Sophomore forward Jess Porcelan (Mechanicsburg,
Pa./Cumberland Valley) and sophomore defender
Monica Oliveto (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) each
had a goal and an assist in the win.
Porcelan got the scoring started at 15:30 as she scored off an
assist from freshman forward Cecilia Mansson (Monroe,
Conn./Masuk). Senior forward Megan Ascanio
(Reading, Pa./Exeter) then scored on an Oliveto assist at
21:56 for a 2-0 lead.
Senior defender Melissa Reuter (Southampton, Pa./William
Tennent) scored on an assist from sophomore defender
Alex Doll (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) at 22:44 for a
3-0 lead, followed by a goal from Oliveto via a Porcelan assist at
29:16.
Tia Scott scored unassisted for McDaniel at 66:59.
Ursinus, who outshot the Green Terror 30-3, got one save from
freshman goalkeeper Justine Harvey (Accident, Md./Northern
Garrett Co.) and freshman goalkeeper Claire
Yergeau (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining).
