Adams Makes Semifinals, Seven Bears Advance to Day Two

ELIZABTHTOWN, PA. - After day one of the Mideast Regionals, Ursinus College wrestling currently sits in 6th place and has advanced seven wrestlers into day two.

Junior Terry Adams has advanced to the semifinals and can punch his ticket to nationals with a victory in his final-four bout on Sunday.

Adams, seeded first, earned a major decision in the opening round defeating Kenny Santiago of Keystone College by a score of 13-2. In his second-round match, Adams defeated RIT's Logan Patterson by a score of 8-3. The Bears 125 pounder will look to revenge a loss from the 2019 semifinals and take on fourth-seeded Matt Caccoamise of Brockport on Sunday, with a trip to the final – and an automatic NCAA qualifying berth on the line.

Romeo Rodriguez (133), Dante Monaco (149), Shawn Marchesano (157), Gary Nagle (184), Jason Carter (197), and Malcolm Hunt (285) all stayed alive in their respective consolation brackets, giving themselves a shot at third place and NCAA berth of their own.

Rodriguez dropped his opening match to Onetta's Anthony Romero but shook off the setback to pick up two victories in the consolations. He netted a pinfall in just 56 seconds to Paul Wehr of Oswego State and edged out a 6-4 decision over Scranton's Matthew Murawski.

Monaco lost his opening bout before rallying off three straight victories to advance to day two. After recording a pin in his second match, he earned an 8-7 decision and then defeated Alfred State's Anthony Miraglia 6-2.

Marchesano won his opening bout, by pinfall over Scranton's Dan Kosinski. He then conceded a hard-fought 5-1 decision to the two seed Matthew Sacco of TCNJ. Marchesano advances to day two after defeating Perry Maio of Centenary University by a score of 6-5.

Nagle won his opening bout by technical fall, before falling in sudden victory to the four seed Christophe Earmes of Brockport 5-3. In the consolations, Nagle advanced with a technical fall over Oswego State's Bryce Smith 18-0.

Carter collected a victory in his opening bout 4-2, before dropping a 9-1 decision against the two seed Jordan Wallace from Ithaca. In the blood round he defeated Alfred State's Blake Llges 9-6 and advanced to tomorrow's action.

Hunt opened with a pinfall over State University's Ben Klei in just under two minutes. In the second round, he fell to Keystone's Caleb Burkhart but battled back and earned a 6-3 decision over Oneonta's Jake Pine.

The Bears will return to action tomorrow for day two with matches starting at 11am.
