Wrestling Rolls in Dual Opener

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Three Ursinus College wrestlers picked up pins as the Bears opened their dual campaign with a 42-10 victory over Penn College, the first for new head coach Joe Jamison.

Terry Adams, fresh off cracking the national rankings, started the proceedings with an 18-3 technical fall at 125 pounds. The rookie is a perfect 9-0, with eight of his victories coming with bonus points attached.

Ray Calderaio then edged out Ryan Bauer by a 7-5 count with an overtime takedown at 133 before Penn College got on the board courtesy of a pin at 141.

Shawn Marchesano notched his second fall of the season at 149, downing his opponent with 11 seconds remaining in the first period, and Alfred Corradetti followed with one of his own, pinning his adversary midway through the second frame at 157.

Jason Carter secured a 13-1 major decision at 197, and Ben Maack capped the match with his second pin of the year, taking down his opponent in 2:36 at heavyweight.

The Bears head to Reading for a dual with King's next Saturday.
