Adams Lands in Top-10 in National Rankings

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus College wrestling freshman, Terry Adams, has started off his collegiate career in impressive fashion. Adams has won both tournaments at 125 pounds and has landed inside the top-20 in the national rankings. The freshman is ranked as high as No. 8 on D3wrestle.com and No. 10 in the Intermat and NWCA national rankings.

"Terry has been an incredibly hard worker from day one and I'm not surprised by how well he's competed," said wrestling head coach Joe Jamison. "We knew he'd make an immediate impact and would eventually put himself on the map nationally. He's capable of great things."

Adams etched his name into the record books in his collegiate debut on opening weekend with a remarkable run that made him the first Ursinus grappler to win at the Messiah opener since Derek Arnold in 2013. The rookie edged out a 5-4 decision against Messiah's Sean Redington, a 2018 NCAA qualifier to win his first title.

On Saturday Adams backs up that performance with his second title in as many weeks at the Bears' home-opening tournament - the Fall Brawl. Just as dominant as the week before, Adams posted two pins, a tech fall, and a major decision en route to taking home the belt, which he secured by downing Elizabethtown's Austin Jones in just 2:17.

Adams will look to keep the momentum going this weekend when the Bears host Penn College.
