HOBOKEN, N.J. – Collin Wickramaratna won his 20th bout of the season and Anthony Cutrufello picked up his 10th pin, but it wasn't enough as the Ursinus College wrestling team dropped a 31-19 Centennial Conference decision at Stevens.
Wickramaratna improved his sparkling season mark to 20-5 with a 15-3 major decision over Akhil Vega at 125 pounds, staking the Bears (5-3, 0-2) to an early advantage over the four-time defending CC champions.
Stevens racked up three pins and two technical falls over the next six bouts to take command, a stretch broken only when Cutrufello dropped Nico Ziccardi in 1:41 at 184. The senior now leads Ursinus with double-digit pins.
Freshman Brady Herr followed with an impressive 9-5 victory over Bruce Parola at 197, and senior William McGinley won by forfeit at heavyweight.
The Bears host McDaniel and Gettysburg in a CC double dual on Saturday, February 2.
