COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Gary Nagle and senior Jarret DiGiantomasso reached the finals of their respective brackets to headline the Ursinus College wrestling team's performance as the squad hosted its annual Fall Brawl on Saturday.
DiGiantomasso, Nagle, and fellow first-year Collin Wickramaratna, who took third at 125 pounds, were the top place winners for Ursinus.
DiGiantomasso was runner-up at 165, where he pinned Elizabethtown's Hunter Beaudet in 4:28 before eking out an impressive 3-1 triumph in overtime against Johns Hopkins' Dane Morgan. The senior moved past Liberty's Austin Burgette, 7-4, to reach the final, where he was bested 2-0 by Chad Simmons of Apprentice School.
Nagle opened his afternoon in the 174-pound bracket with a 5-1 decision opposite Apprentice School's Dan Henson, then pulled out a 7-6 victory over York's William Myers to gain the semifinals. An injury default moved him into the title bout, where he fell by a 9-2 decision to WPI's Brendan Marion.
Wickramaratna turned in another strong effort after placing runner-up at the season-opening Messiah Invitational last weekend. The freshman pinned Penn State Mont Alto's Daniel Bertram in 1:40, then scored a 21-5 technical fall over Johns Hopkins' Jeremy Berger. Wickramaratna dropped out of the semifinals with a 7-3 loss to Navy Prep's Matt Cardello, but nipped Navy's Brock Laggini, 3-2, and topped Apprentice's Colton Messick by a 7-4 count to claim third.

Senior Brandon Greyson was a first-round winner by tech fall (19-4) over Elizabethtown's Austin Jones and picked up two consolation victories with a pin of freshman teammate Hunter Brown and a 12-6 defeat of Delaware Valley's Nick DeRosa. Brown needed only seven seconds to drop Mont Alto's Dominick Hyatt in the first round of consolations.

Senior Derek Gulotta posted a pair of consolation wins, including a 5-1 decision over freshman teammate Kyle Seibert, who had downed York's Michael Rubin by a 7-4 final in the first round.

Freshman Noah Supsic was the lone Bear to win a bout in this class, defeating senior teammate Edward Howlette by injury default and then pinning Mont Alto's Noah Kendrich in 52 seconds.

In addition to DiGiantomasso's impressive run, senior Zachary Goranson advanced to his second semifinal in as many tournaments. He began with a 7-0 shutout of Camden County's Mike Schneider, then followed with a fall against Elizabethtown's Colton Shriner and a 9-1 major decision opposite Delaware Valley's Anthony Snyder. Goranson lost 8-4 to Simmons in the semifinals and dropped out of the tournament with a medical forfeit.
Freshman Jason Zollers produced a 16-0 technical fall in the consolation bracket.

174 was also a strong bracket for the Bears, who saw senior Anthony Cutrufello reel off three straight consolation wins. He edged past Henson, 8-6, and pinned Navy's Jordan Richard before downing York's Seth Cranford by a score of 11-8.

Freshman Kyle Schaffer won a pair of matches for the Bears, defeating Elizabethtown's Dan Gorman 8-4 and shutting out Liberty's Josh Avery in an 11-0 final.

Senior William McGinley turned in a strong afternoon at heavyweight, reaching the semifinals on the back of a late pin of Johns Hopkins' Henri Behaeghel and an 8-5 decision against Camden's Caleb Corrigan. McGinley lost 4-1 to WPI's Austin Shrewsbury before bowing out in the consolation semifinals.
