Maack Earns CC Wrestler of the Week Nod

LANCASTER, Pa. – Two days removed from his first tournament title, Ursinus freshman Ben Maack has been named the Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Week.

Maack stormed through the 184-pound bracket at the Bears' annual Fall Brawl on Saturday. The rookie registered three pins and a pair of major decisions, ultimately claiming top prize when he pinned Navy's Connor Doyle in the second period of the title bout.

Maack started his day with a 9-0 shutout of York's James Gear, then dropped Elizabethtown's Dayne Ross in 1:09 and Camden County Community College's Juan Ramos in just 45 seconds to gain the semifinals. He scored a 13-5 major decision opposite TCNJ's Thom Anderson before taking down Doyle to cap a perfect 5-0 showing.

Now 7-2 on the season, Maack leads Ursinus in wins. Six of his seven bout victories have come with bonus points – three pins, two majors, and a technical fall.

The wrestling team returns to action on Friday, December 1, when the Bears kick off the two-day Petrofes Invitational at Messiah.
