LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus College senior Derek Arnold was recognized as the Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Arnold went 2-0 with a pair of major decisions as the Bears split CC matches with Merchant Marine and Stevens on Saturday. The 157-pounder blanked Erik Beshada, 10-0, in the Bears' 25-18 triumph over the Marines, and followed with an impressive 15-5 defeat of Stevens' Thomas Poklikuha, who came in ranked seventh in the nation, in a 19-18 setback to the 6th-ranked Ducks.
Arnold is 15-1 on the year, with five pins, three technical falls, and three major decisions. He is 5-0 in conference matches.
The wrestling team returns to the mat on Saturday with a pair of league contests against Gettysburg and McDaniel.
