Wrestling Cruises Past Muhlenberg in CC Opener

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College wrestling team won all but one bout in cruising to a 43-3 victory over Muhlenberg tonight in the Centennial Conference opener for both squads.

After Muhlenberg (2-5, 0-1) forfeited at 125, Keven Hoogheem kicked off the Bears' Centennial Conference campaign with a 10-2 major decision against Patrick Sockler at 133. Christian Hoogheem followed with a 6-5 defeat of Ben Peck at 141, using an escape with a minute remaining in the third period to break the stalemate and hold on for a hard-earned victory.

At 149, Alex Kramer defeated Kash Calderon, 17-0, via technical fall, ending the match with five seconds remaining in the first period.

Che Chengsupanimit got the Mules on the board with a 16-9 triumph over Zachary Dellicompagni in a matchup of lengthy last names at 157, but DiGiantomasso pinned Muhlenberg's Will Lamb at 165 to get the Bears back on track.

Corey Markovitch took command in the final seconds of the second period against Jake Gordon, scoring six quick points on the way to a 10-4 final at 174. Nickolas Suk dominated from the start opposite Ethan Pentz at 184, racking up more than five minutes of riding time to register a 16-4 major decision.
