Wrestling Concludes 2015 at Citrus Invitational

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Ursinus College wrestling team capped the 2015 section of its schedule by sending three grapplers to the Citrus Invitational. Senior John Morrison (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston Regional) turned in the best showing of the Bears' trio, advancing to the semifinals on the way to a fifth-place finish in the 141-pound bracket.

The two-day event boasted an impressive field consisting of five teams ranked inside the top 30 in Division III – Augsburg (No. 3), Cornell College (8), Williams (15), New York University (25), and John Carroll (29). Augsburg captured the team title with a total of 169 points, followed by Williams (148.5), Cornell College (141), John Carroll (112), and NYU (104). Ursinus earned 14 points to place 11th.

Morrison received a bye into the second round, where he dispatched John Carroll's Sal Corrao by fall in just 27 seconds. Morrison then reached the semifinals following a thrilling, 14-13 decision over Waynesburg's Fillipo Crivelli. He was ousted by eventual champion Josh Martin of Cornell College. After being pinned in the third-place bracket, Morrison earned fifth place when his opponent from Augsburg withdrew.

Fellow senior Nathaniel Marsh (Vienna, Va./McLean School of Maryland) dropped a pair of tightly contested decisions at 165, falling 3-2 to eventual champion Eric Hensel of Augsburg before suffering a 4-3 setback to Liberty's Michael Bryant. He rebounded to defeat Muhlenberg's Nely Montina, 6-3, in the ninth-place division, then was defeated by NYU's Dylan Lojac.

Freshman Colin Monahan (Freehold, N.J./Freehold) also lost to the defending champion, an 11-0 setback at the hands of Cornell College's Scott Smith at 125.
