SCRANTON, Pa. – While the Ursinus College wrestling team usually doesn't enter the dual meet part of its season until January, the Bears didn't let an early start bother them as they swept a quad match on Sunday with Yeshiva, Scranton and Muhlenberg to improve to 3-0.

The Bears blanked two opponents in Yeshiva (54-0) and Muhlenberg (57-0), while downing Scranton 39-6.

Against Yeshiva, the bout opened with freshman Zachary Fisher picking up a forfeit at 125, then freshman Kenneth Hayes scored a major decision over Joshua Eisenberg at 133 by a 12-4 score. After a forfeit win by sophomore Christian Hoogheem at 141, freshman Alexander Kramer won at 149 via a pin over Shmuel Lamm in 2:20.

At 157, sophomore Giancarlo Morreale pinned Michael Gabay at 1:39, followed by a technical fall from sophomore Anthony Carlo at 165 in 4:32 (score 17-3) over Ezra Kapetansky.

Freshman Corey Markovich scored the quickest pin of the match at 174, flattening Chaim Metzger at :14.

Freshman Thomas Rheault pinned Alex Straus in 4:07 at 184, followed by freshman Matthew Roberts winning by forfeit at 197. The match ended in a two-overtime thriller as freshman Jacob Bigelow defeated David Greenfield, 4-3. 

Against Muhlenberg, junior Chris Donaldson opened with a forfeit win, followed by sophomore Keven Hoogheem pinning Pat Fruehling at 133 in 3:23. His brother, Christian Hoogheem at 141 won by forfeit.

At 149, senior Elisha Gaylor won by major decision 14-3, followed by junior Richard Jasinski winning by technical fall at 151 over Amit Hezi by a score 20-3 in 2:16. 

After that, Ursinus won the next five bouts by forfeit.

Against Scranton, Donaldson started the match with a pin of James Samson in 1:17, with Keven Hoogheem pinning Corey Forlenza in :52. 

Freshman Derek Arnold picked up a major decision win over James Kelly, 10-1, at 149, with Jasinski pinning Brian Walsh in :54.

Carlo won his bout at 165 over Shawne Flesche, 9-2, while junior Robert Scaramuzza won by technical fall over John Riccardi, 15-0 in 4:15. At 184, junior Dan Manganaro got a 20-7 major decision over Chris Silakoski followed by a technical fall win from junior Christian Psomas at 197 over Sal Montuori 18-3 in 5:07.
