LEXINGTON, Va. – The Ursinus College wrestling team finished undefeated in its Centennial Conference schedule as the Bears defeated McDaniel 25-15, New York University 30-9 and Washington & Lee 35-6 to finish with a perfect 8-0 in Centennial Conference dual meets.

The Bears (12-0, 8-0 Centennial) started the day with McDaniel, and went up 4-3 after two bouts as senior Alex Blank (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) won his match at 133 pounds with a 10-2 decision over Sean Ensign.

Ursinus took the lead for good at 149 pounds as senior Connor McCormick (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) defeated Logan Yox by pin in 2:55 for 10-6 lead. At 157, freshman Richard Jasinski (Sellersville, Pa./Penn Ridge) defeated Brent Lowe 12-9 to go up 13-6.

Ursinus took three of the last five bouts, as freshman Mathew Kreuger (Royersford, Pa./Spring Ford) defeated Jacob Reik at 174 6-5, freshman Daniel Manganaro (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) defeated Scott Forrester 6-3 and senior Connor McNamara (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) defeated Mike Meekins by pin in 3:00.

Against NYU, Ursinus went 21-0 and never looked back. After freshman Christopher Donaldson (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) won by forfeit at 125, Blank defeated Adlee Fayyaz via a 12-3 major decision. Sophomore Elisha Gaylor (West Reading, Pa./Wyomissing) won his bout at 141, defeating Matthew DiGiovanni 9-2, followed by a 3-1 win for McCormick over Dan Gorman at 149.

Jasinski won his match at 157 via technical fall 16-0, 6:10 over Cooper Puls.

McNamara won his match at 197 over Jamie Myers 7-4 while junior heavyweight William Cornely (Cinnaminson, N.J./Camden Catholic) defeated Rudy De La Crus via pin in 1:51 to end the match at 285. 

Against the host Generals, Ursinus again raced out to a big lead going up 15-0. After Donaldson won via forfeit, Blank took down Sam Campbell 6-1 at 133. Gaylor won his match over Connor Duffey 7-3, before freshman Tyler Helms (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara Area) defeated HT Kotchinian 7-5 in overtinme at 149.

Kreuger won his match at 174 over Zan Reed by a 10-1 major decision, with Manganaro defeating Morgan Moskal 17-4 at 184.

McNamara and Cornely won their bouts via forfeit.

This marked the first time Ursinus went undefeated in Centennial duals since 2006, and will finish atop the standings for the first time since 2007 and end Merchant Marine's four year run atop at the standings.

Ursinus will travel to Wilkes next week.
