Wrestling hosts Fall Brawl

On Saturday Ursinus Wrestling hosted their annual Fall Brawl. Several of the Bears had good performances, placing in the top four.

Senior Nate Murren (Littleston, Pa./Littlestown) placed second in the Fall Brawl at 184 pounds.  In his first match he defeated Willy Crawford from Apprentice with a 4-2 decision overtime match.  Then in the semi-finals he defeated Joshua Cook from Elizabethtown 1-0.  He lost to Mike Denver from The College of New Jersey in the final bout 5-2.

Sophomore William Cornely (Cinnaminson, N.J./Camden Catholic) placed second at 285.  He defeated Kevin Gray from Apprentice in the preliminary bout with an 8-2 decision.  In the quarter finals he defeated Langston Barnes from The College of New Jersey with a fall at 1:46.  In the semi finals he defeated Bobby Christopher of Gettysburg with a decision of 2-0.  In the finals he lost to Brock Glotfelty from McDaniel after a fall at 0:36.

Sophomore Mike Kevlin (Manalapan, N.J./St. John Vianney) placed fourth in the 174 weight class.  In the preliminaries he defeated Anthony DiMarco from Elizabethtown 2-0 and then in the quarter finals he pinned Gettysburg's Michael Sheehan in 1:02.  After losing in the semi-final bout of the championship bracket, he came back in the consolation bracket and defeated Anthony DiMarco again in a 4-0 decision match.  In the final, he placed fourth after losing to Jared Leon from Gettysburg.

Freshman Taylor Gload (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp) placed fourth at 197.  After losing in the preliminary round to Phillip Landis of Elizabethtown with a decision of 10-4, he defeated Tom Siller from The College of New Jersey in an 8-0 major decision in the first round of the consolation bout.  He then pinned Matt Zdradzinski from Elizabethtown at 4: 23. In the second round of semi-finals he defeated Joe Shields from Penn State DuBois with a decision 3-1.  And then defeated Phillip Landis of Elizabethtown due to medical forfeit.  In the finals of the consolation bout he lost to Adam Kozoil from The College of New Jersey 5-2.

Senior Ed Minelli (Hull, Mass./Xavierian Brothers) also placed fourth at the tournament.  After losing 6-1 to Kevin Poplaski from Gettysburg in the preliminary bout of the championship bracket he defeated Hatem Aboulaban of Valley Forge Military Academy due to forfeit.  In the second bout of the consolation bracket he defeated Brenden Kahle from Naval Academy Prep 3-1.  In the quarterfinals he defeated Nicholas Pallotta from Muhlenberg 3-0 and in the semi-finals he defeated Kevin Poplaski 3-1 in overtime.  In the final bout he lost to Bobby Christopher 5-3
