FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Ursinus finished seventh at the Citrus
Invitational over Winter Break.
Two wrestlers took second as 133-pounder sophomore Alex
Blank (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and 197-pounder
sophomore Connor McNamara (Winchester,
Mass./Winchester) both accomplished that feat.
Senior Dan Glover (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield),
wrestling at 141 pounds, took third in his bracket while junior
Ed Minelli (Hull, Mass./Xavierian Brothers) was
fifth at 285 pounds.
Blank started his day with a 7-2 win over Matthew Ostovich, then
scored a 16-0 tech fall over Timothy Vore of Buena Vista. After a
forfeit advanced him to the final, Blank dropped an 11-2 major
decision to Travis Drappi of Rhode Island College.
McNamara started his day with a 6-4 win over Alex Cressley of
W&J, then defeated James Nemunaitis of John Carroll by a pin in
1:26. He lost to Bill Schindel of Mount Union in the title bout by
a score of 7-1.
Glover started his day with a 6-3 win over Erik Johanson of
Oneonta, then lost to Josh Malave of Mount Union 3-1. In the
wrestlebacks, he defeated Johanson again, this time by pin in 4:07.
Finally, he defeated Malkus by decision in the third place match
10-6.
Minelli opened up with a pin of Nathan Miller of W&J in 2:46,
then lost to Brian Nicoll of Rhode Island College by pin in
3:30.
In the wrestlebacks, Minelli defeated Ty Sampsell of W&J 2-1,
then scored a 20-7 major decision over Matt Clark.
After falling to James Lamonica of Oneonta State 4-1, he scored a
forfeit over Nicoll, then defeated Nathan Miller of W&J by pin
in 2:25.
