McDaniel outlasts WLax, 14-9

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – McDaniel got four goals each from Maggie Quinn and Emily Brownawell as the Green Terror (9-6, 4-4 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (4-11, 2-5 Centennial) 14-9 in women's lacrosse action.

Ursinus got four goals from senior midfielder Kitty Dawson (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), who was honored before the game as the team's lone senior on the team's last Saturday home game. Junior midfielder Brynn Dietzel (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) and sophomore attack Emma Ebert (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) each had two goals on the afternoon.

After McDaniel scored the first two goals of the game, Ursinus got on the board with 24:05 left in the first half as Ebert scored to cut the deficit to 2-1. McDaniel would score the next four, before Ursinus scored the last three goals of the half. Dietzel scored the first with 4:01 left, followed by back-to-back goals from Dawson, the last coming with the clock expired to put the Bears within two at 6-4 at intermission.

McDaniel's Julia Jacobs scored the first two goals of the second half to give the Green Terror a four-goal edge at 8-4. Ursinus would get another goal from Dawson, her third of the game, to get within three at 8-5 with 16:43 left in the half.

The Green Terror would then go on a 4-1 run to go up 12-6 and would never look back.

Individually, junior midfielder Mary Deliberti (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) would grab six groundballs and four draw controls to go along with two caused turnovers. Ebert had three groundballs, while freshman attack Julia Fleming (Glenside, Pa./Penn Charter) had three draw controls as did sophomore defender Lisa Grous (Washington Township, N.J./Bishop Eustace).

In goal, freshman Meaghan Corbin (Danville, Calif./Carondelet) had five saves.

Ursinus will host Haverford on Wednesday.
