Ursinus Beats Bryn Mawr 17-0

Bears Ground Owls in Blowout Win

The Bears of Ursinus dominated start to finish Saturday afternoon as they shutout the Owls of Bryn Mawr College 17-0.

The Bears got off to a quick start in the game as they scored four times in the first four and a half minutes of the game taking a 4-0 lead. Junior midfielder Brynn Dietzel (Warrington, PA) struck first on an unassisted goal less than three minutes in.

Ursinus continued to roll as the Bears netted 12 goals overall in the first half. Bryn Mawr was unable to test either goalie for Ursinus as they got one shot off in the first half against junior goalie Margaret Philbin (Danbury, CT.)

Meanwhile the Bears tallied a total of 32 shots on the day, 22 in the first and 10 in the second half. Owls goalie Katie Alpert did all she could recording 11 saves on the day for Bryn Mawr.

Bryn Mawr's defense did toughen up in the second half as they held Ursinus to five goals but the damage had been done. The Bears emerged victorious 17-0 when all was said and done.

Five different Ursinus tallied two goals on the day while seven other players found the net as well. The win moved the Bears to 3-8 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. Ursinus will return home this Wednesday night, April 8th to take on Scranton at 7:00 PM.
