Women's Lacrosse beaten by Washington, 17-7

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Nationally-ranked Washington College scored eight of the game's first nine goals as the Shorewomen (8-1, 1-1 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (2-7, 0-3 Centennial) 17-7 on Wednesday afternoon in women's lacrosse action in the Centennial Conference.

Carly Eisenbrandt scored five goals for the Shorewomen, while Emily Hubley added in four goals and two assists.

Ursinus got a pair of goals from sophomore midfielder Kitty Dawson (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), while freshman midfielder Devin Brakel (West Windsor, N.J./West-Windsor Plainsboro) scored a goal and added an assist for the Bears.

Trailing 4-0, Ursinus got on the board with 23:22 left in the first half when junior attack Amber Moyer (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) scored her 16th goal of the season. Washington would score four more goals, before Ursinus got back on the board when Dawson scored her first of the game at 7:53 left.

Down by eight at 10-2 with 28:12 left, Ursinus went on a short 3-1 run to pull within six at 11-5 on a goal by freshman attack Jessica Hill (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) with 19:13 left. But that would be the closest Ursinus would get the rest of the game.

Ursinus got three ground balls and five draw controls from freshman midfielder Mary Deliberti (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe), while Dawson, Brakel and senior attack Lauren Garganio (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) each had two draw controls.

In goal, junior Riley Pembroke (Great Falls, Va./Langley) made 14 saves.

Ursinus heads to Bryn Mawr on Saturday.
