Women's Lacrosse falls to Dickinson, 16-7

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Dickinson College got four goals and two assists from sophomore attack Carly O'Brien and three goals from sophomore midfielder Kelly Haglund as the Red Devils of Dickinson (6-3, 2-0 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (2-6, 0-2 Centennial), 16-7, on Saturday afternoon women's lacrosse action at Patterson Field.

While Dickinson jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first half, three straight goals by Ursinus got the bears to within two. Dickinson slowly pulled away from Ursinus in the second half, where Haglund scored all three of her goals.

Ursinus was led offensively by sophomore Kitty Dawson (Hillsborough, N.J., Hillsborough) with three goals, while senior midfielder Elizabeth Chatburn (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) added two to the score-sheet.

Chatburn also picked up four ground balls for the Bears, second only to Caroline Cannon (Garrison, N.Y.,/James I. O'Neill) who picked up five.

In goal, junior Riley Pembroke (Great Falls, Va./Langley) had seven shots in  the first half, with freshman Margaret Philbin (Danbury, Conn./Ridgefield) making eight in the second half.

For Dickinson, sophomore midfielder Ali Dawson had a game-high ten draw controls, with junior defender Brett Whelan taking six.

Ursinus hosts Washington on April 3.
