Women's Lacrosse downs Cabrini, 12-7

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus got five goals from junior midfielder Nicole Kovacs (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) as the Bears downed visiting Cabrini College by a score of 12-7 in women's lacrosse action Tuesday evening on a blustery Patterson Field.

Junior attack Amber Moyer (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) added four goals of her own in the victory.  Sophomore midfielder Kitty Dawson (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) added a goal of her own, as well as freshman defender Eden Abrams (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) and senior midfielder Taylor Egolf (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Merion) each added a goal of their own in the effort.

Cabrini was lead by Katie Lasater who had three goals on the afternoon while Ali May picked up four ground balls in the effort.

The Bears never trailed in the game, and at one point held a controlling 11-4 lead with 7:25 remaining in the contest.

Individually senior attack Lauren Garganio (Medford, Pa./Shawnee) and freshman midfielder Mary Deliberti (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe High School) each had four draw controls on the evening.  Senior midfielder Elizabeth Chatburn (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) caused four turnovers in the contest.

In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Riley Pembroke (Great Falls, Va./Langley) got the win as she stopped 11 of the 18 shots that she faced.

The Bears are in action again on Saturday when they travel to Swarthmore.  Game time is 12:00 p.m.
