Women's Lacrosse wins CC opener, 15-11, over Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Five goals from Ursinus junior midfielder Alyssa Thren (Upper Perkiomen) highlighted the Bears (3-2) 15-11 win over Swarthmore (4-2) on Saturday afternoon in women's lacrosse Centennial Conference action. It was the conference opener for both teams.

Thren scored all five of her goals in the second half, as the Bears rallied from a 5-3 deficit midway through the first half and scored five straight to go up 8-5 with 25 minutes left in the game.

Swarthmore closed the gap back to two at 9-7 with 17:55 left, before Ursinus went on a 4-0 scoring run and never looked back.

Senior attack Emily Hummel (Moorestown Friends) added in three goals, while senior attack Lindsey Urban (Central Bucks East) and junior attack Emily Diehl (Voorhees) each had two goals. Senior Allison Furman (Boyertown) had two assists and a goal in the win.

Ursinus had 28 ground balls on the day as Thren and Hummel each picked up four. Thren and Hummel each had three draw controls.

Freshman goalkeeper Riley Pembroke (Langley) got the win in relief of senior Emma Bacharach (J.P. McCaskey). Pembroke made ten saves in 44 minutes.

Ursinus hosts TCNJ on Tuesday night.
