CHESTERTOWN, Md. – A four-goal outburst in the second half allowed Washington to pull away from Ursinus 9-5 in a Centennial Conference women’s lacrosse matchup Saturday.

The Bears (8-4, 3-2 Centennial) got the first goal of the game for their only lead of the game when sophomore midfielder Kim Peifer (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) scored 8:07 in for a 1-0 lead.

Washington’s Corinne Ziccardi then scored back-to-back goals to give Washington a 2-1 lead with 16:44 left.

Ursinus did tie the score at 2-all with 13:34 left as sophomore midfielder Emily Diehl (Lebanon, N.J./Voorhees) scored on a free position shot.

Trailing 4-2 at intermission, the Bears pulled to within one as junior midfielder Allison Furman (Gilbertsvillle, Pa./Boyertown) scored on an assist from Peifer.

Washington (6-4, 2-3 Centennial), then scored the next four goals to put the game out of reach.

For Ursinus, Furman, Diehl, Peifer, freshman attack Meghan Morley (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) and sophomore midfielder Kristen Wampole (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) all had goals.

Defensively, Morley had two caused turnovers, while junior midfielder Emily Hummel (Lumberton, N.J./Moorestown Friends) had four draw controls.

In goal, senior Alex McBride (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) had six saves.
