Pa. – Ursinus College senior midfielder Elizabeth
Cannon (Garrison, N.Y./James I. O’Neil) had five
goals as the Bears (2-1) won their second straight match with an
11-4 victory over Eastern (0-1) Wednesday afternoon in
women’s lacrosse play.
Cannon scored four of her five goals in the first
half en route to the win. With the Bears leading 5-3 with just 14
minutes left in the first half, Ursinus went on a 6-0 scoring run
to put the game out of reach. Sophomore midfielder Emily
Diehl (Lebanon, N.J./Voorhees) added in two goals as the
Bears remained perfect at home.
Junior midfielder Allison Furman
(Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) had three assists for
Ursinus.
For Eastern, sophomore midfielder Kelly Dando
scored twice.
Ursinus, who held a 31-12 advantage on shots,
also forced 28 Eagle turnovers. Senior defender Cindy
Taylor (Schwenksville, Pa./Boyertown) had eight
groundballs and eight caused turnovers defensively, while Furman
had four caused turnovers.
In goal, senior goalkeeper Alex McBride
(Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) had five saves in 49
minutes, while freshman goalie Jackie Kimmel (Hatboro,
Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) had two in 11 minutes. For Eastern,
freshman goalie Lindsey Corbitt had 12 saves.
Ursinus travels to Roanoke Friday.
