COLLEGEVILLE,
Pa. – Ursinus College junior attack Lindsay Urban
(Doylestown, Pa./C.B. East) had four goals, with senior
midfielder Elizabeth Cannon (Garrison, N.Y./James I.
O’Neil) added in three as the Bears (1-1) won their
home opener with a 14-11 triumph over Drew (1-1) Saturday afternoon
in women’s lacrosse play.
Sophomore midfielder Emily Diehl
(Lebanon, N.J./Voorhees) had two goals and two assists in
the win.
For Drew, sophomore attack Aileen Musynske had
four goals, while junior attack Stacie Brown had three.
Ursinus outscored Drew 5-1 to start the second
half, after leaving 7-5 at intermission. Ursinus took its biggest
lead of the game to date at 12-6 with 11:41 left on a goal by
Diehl. Ursinus would take a seven goal lead at 14-7 with 7:46 as
Urban scored on an assist from Cannon.
Drew made a late run, scoring four goals in the
final 5:58, but could not close the gap.
Senior goalkeeper Alex McBride (Sewell,
N.J./Washington Township) had 12 saves in the win. Drew
junior goalkeeper Rachel Hanley had seven.
Defensively, junior midfielder Allison
Furman (Glibertsville, Pa./Boyertown) had five groundballs
and three caused turnovers for Ursinus. Urban finished with three
draw controls.
Ursinus will host Eastern on
Wednesday.
