McGarrigle Takes Third at Revolutionary Classic

ELKTON, Md. – Junior Emily McGarrigle led the way with another top-five performance as the Ursinus College women's golf team wrapped up the two-day Revolutionary Collegiate Classic on Sunday.

McGarrigle rode a strong Saturday to a two-day 166 (77-89), enough to tie for third overall and tally her third top-five placing in four tournaments this fall.

Ursinus posted a two-round total of 808 to place third. Randolph-Macon was the team champion at 656, and Arcadia was second at 771.

McGarrigle took a one-shot lead into Sunday after turning in another impressive performance on Saturday, signing for a 77 on the strength of 11 pars and a pair of birdies on par-5 holes – the 6th and 17th. The junior's round was her second sub-80 card in her past three outings, following a school-record 74 at the Bears' home invitational just three weeks ago. McGarrigle owns the only two sub-80 rounds in program history.

An 89 on Sunday prevented McGarrigle from claiming the trophy, as Randolph-Macon's Liza Lewis followed a first-round 78 with an 81 to take the title with a 159. McGarrigle was even with the Yellow Jackets' Colleen Connolly (79-87—166), one shot behind Randolph-Macon's Emmy Saathoff (81-84—165).

Senior Sarah Thompson shot a cumulative 191 (93-98) to finish ninth, while classmate Meaghan Corbin finished at an even 200 (103-97); her 97 on Sunday was one shot off a personal best. Senior Shelby Bryant rounded out the Ursinus contingent with a 252 (124-128).

The women's golf team is right back in action at the Eastern Invitational on Monday.
