ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's golf team placed two of its three entrants in the top nine and ties at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational on Sunday.
Senior Sarah Thompson and junior Emily McGarrigle each shot an 89 to tie for ninth in a field of 42 for the Bears, while senior Meaghan Corbin carded a 111.
After struggling to a 49 on the front nine, McGarrigle found her game on the back, posting a 40 that included four pars and a birdie on the par-5 17th. McGarrigle, five days removed from a school-record 74 at the UC Fall Invitational, registered her eighth consecutive round of 90 or better.
Thompson shot 90 or lower for the fifth time in as many outings. The senior recorded six pars and had a birdie on the par-5 12th hole.
Corbin notched six bogeys in her third career round.
The women's golf team hosts the annual two-day Revolutionary Collegiate Classic at Patriots Glen National Golf Club on Saturday, October 14.
