McGarrigle Runner-Up at Muhlenberg Invite

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Emily McGarrigle equaled a season low with a 12-over 82 to finish one stroke out of individual medalist honors as the Ursinus College women's golf team concluded a stretch of three tournaments in three days at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Monday.

Muhlenberg won the team title with a score of 364, though Ursinus brought only three golfers and did not have an opportunity to defend its crown from last year. Alvernia finished second at 409, and Albright was third with a 461.

McGarrigle made par on eight holes for the afternoon, including six to shoot a 3-over 38 on the back nine. The strong closing stretch pulled McGarrigle within a single stroke of Alvernia's Emily Gilbert, who signed for an 81 on the par-70, 5805-yard track at Lehigh Country Club. It was the second 82 of the season for McGarrigle, who shot 85 or better in each of her four appearances before a stretch of three straight rounds of 92 or higher.

Junior Sarah Thompson scored an even 100 to place 10th overall, and classmate Shelby Bryant carded a 136.

The Bears host their spring invitational at Stonewall's North Course on Tuesday, April 11.
