Chiger Tabbed CC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – After a record-breaking performance at the Revolutionary Classic, sophomore Rebecca Chiger has been chosen as the Centennial Conference Women's Golf Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Chiger placed third overall in a field of 35 at the Bears' annual fall tournament, carding a combined 163 (82-81) to register the lowest two-day score in school history. The sophomore's consistent excellence enabled the Bears to post a team total of 685, shattering the previous team record for two-day score; Ursinus fired a 336 in Sunday's final round, eight strokes below the former program record set in a dual against Gettysburg last year.

Chiger, who finished in the top five for the second time in three events this fall, has shot an 82 or lower in three of her four rounds on the season, good for a team-leading stroke average of 82.8.

Chiger, who ranked fifth in the conference in stroke average (89.00) as a freshman last season, already holds the program mark for lowest round (80), which she established last season and shares with classmate Emily McGarrigle

The women's golf team concludes its fall slate at the Eastern Invitational on Wednesday.
