McTamney Named CC Pitcher of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Kayla McTamney has certainly taken to being a starter.

On the heels of three consecutive gems in her first full-time action in the circle, the Ursinus College softball rookie was named Centennial Conference pitcher of the week.

McTamney was lights out in three starts for the Bears, tossing 18.2 scoreless innings in a trio of wins. The rookie threw back-to-back shutouts against No. 11 Moravian and at Washington College, surrendering just 10 hits and striking out five in those two starts.

McTamney allowed just six hits and struck out four against a Moravian offense that entered with a team batting average of .392, needing just 84 pitches to post her first career complete-game shutout. McTamney picked right back up where she left off on Saturday, permitting the Shorewomen just four hits without a walk in a 3-0 victory to clinch a critical sweep. She also made a terrific snag of a line drive back up the middle to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning.

Through 14 games (seven starts), McTamney is 4-2 with a 2.03 ERA and one save.
