Lazer Lands CC Player of the Week

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College softball sophomore Heather Lazer turned in a huge day at the plate in Saturday's doubleheader at Salisbury and was rewarded with Centennial Conference player of the week honors.

Lazer was a force with the bat in her hands as the Bears split a pair of one-run thrillers against one of the region's perennial powers. She finished 4-for-7 for the day, with three of those hits going for extra bases. That list included the second home run of her career, a game-tying solo shot in a 6-5 Game 1 victory, and a pair of doubles in each contest. Lazer drove in three runs and scored three of her own.

After hitting .328 in limited action as a rookie, Lazer is taking full advantage of her newfound spot in the Bears' every-day lineup. She is batting .300 (12-for-40) with a home run and nine RBI. She leads the team with four doubles and is tied for top honors with 10 runs scored.
