COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College softball team dropped a Centennial Conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon to Washington College.

The Shorewomen won game 1, 5-0, while Washington (15-6, 5-3 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (8-10, 3-3 Centennial) 12-4 in game two that was stopped after five innings due to the eight-run rule.

Senior pitcher Kelly Schymanski (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) took the loss, falling to 4-5 as she struck out one and allowed five earned runs in four innings.

Game two saw Ursinus fall behind 3-0 after the top of the first, only to score two in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Schymanski and an error that allowed Schymanski to score on a hit by junior pitcher Caitlin Whelan (Stanhope, N.J./Pope John XXIII).

Washington plated nine runs in the third, before Ursinus would get two back in the fifth on RBI singles from Pfrommer and sophomore outfielder Delia Mercurio (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township).
