Softball swept by Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College softball team dropped a pair of games to Lebanon Valley on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader.

The Flying Dutchmen won game one 2-1, then took the nightcap against the Bears (23-5) 3-0.

Ursinus lone run in the first game came in the third inning as freshman first baseman Allison Pfrommer (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional) hit a home run to right field giving the Bears a 1-0 lead.

The Flying Dutchmen (23-7) scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Meghan Donoghue hit a two-run double to center.

Ursinus, who finished with just four hits in game one, got two hits from sophomore right fielder Kelly Kalovcak (Pottsville, Pa./Minersville Area).

Senior pitcher Lauren Davis-Macedonia (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) took the loss, giving up seven hits in falling to 17-3. She did strike out nine, to move her career strikeout total to 985.

In game two, Lebanon Valley scored in the first, fourth and fifth inning as the Bears were held to just three hits.

Freshman pitcher Jennilyn Weber (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley) took the loss in game two, falling to 5-2. She struck out three and walked three.

Ursinus hosts Haverford at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday in a key Centennial Conference doubleheader. The Bears clinched a playoff spot this afternoon, and can clinch home field advantage for the post-season tournament with a win in one of their last four games.
